Veterans earn top three

The Dauphin Kings found a way to come back from a one-goal deficit on Saturday night as they snapped a three-game losing streak to start 2022.

Dauphin opened the scoring with less than two minutes left in the first as Kaden Bryant scored his 22nd goal of the season and for his efforts, the Winnipeg native is the first star in the Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week.

Bryant also had an assist later in the game and now has 43 points on the season. After the game, Bryant was pleased with how the team responded after going down 2-1.

“It was really nice to get back in the win column,” said Bryant. “We put together a solid effort and it was a good team effort for us.”

Second Star:

Nakodan Greyeyes scored 24 times in the 2019-20 season with the Kings and was named to the league’s second all-star team. After starting this season with the Austin Bruins in the North American Hockey League, Greyeyes is back in town and he’s already made a huge difference.

With less than three minutes left in Saturday’s game, Greyeyes found the back of the net as the 20-year-old scored the game-winning goal, his first goal of the season in just his second game.

It was huge news when Nakodan decided to come back to town and he will be a massive piece to the team’s success moving forward.

Third Star:

Kaden Bryant scored the team’s first goal on Saturday but it may not have happened without an unreal play from Parker Malchuk.

The 20-year-old made a beautiful pass to the backdoor and Bryant did the rest. The veteran has been buzzing over the past couple of games and it’s been proven many times that Malchuk will do whatever it takes to help the team win games and winning is what he loves to do.

Malchuk is this week’s third star.
