Titans Skate Past Kings

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings fell on their heels briefly in the third period and it cost them in a 4-2 loss to the Neepawa Titans Friday night at Credit Union Place.

The Titans scored four unanswered goals en route to the decision.

The first period was a tale of two different teams for the Kings. The first seven minutes of the frame Dauphin scored two goals. First Havryil Simchuk notched his first of the season and then Naaman Hofer followed that up with his fourth, both on the Power Play. Then Neepawa responded before the end of the frame to make it 2-2.

In the second period things were pretty even with the Kings holding a bit of an edge when it came to possession. The clubs went to the dressing room tied 2-2 after 40.

In the third period the Kings controlled things for the most part but late in the frame a fortunate bounce gave Neepawa a 3-2 lead and the Titans would finish it off with an empty netter to make it a 4-2 final.

Power Plays had the Kings going 2 for 5 on the Power Play and 5 for 5 on the Penalty Kill.

Cole Sheffield took the loss in goal stopping 22 of the 25 shots he faced. The Kings had 42 shots on the Neepawa net.

The loss slips the Kings to 14-5-1-0 on the season. A missed opportunity for the club as they now slip into a tie for first place in the MJHL's West Division with the Norman Blizzard.

Dauphin will have a chance to redeem themselves in less than 24 hours when they host the Swan Valley Stampeders. Game time at Credit Union Place is 7:30pm!
