Three Stars Of The Week

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings enter a busy week on home ice sitting atop the MJHL's West Division.

In case you missed it last week the Kings had two games, picking up a win and a loss.

On Saturday Dauphin took out the visiting Winnipeg Monarchs 6-0 at Credit Union Place. Then on Sunday the Kings had an off night, falling 5-1 to the Flyers in Winkler.

Now the Kings begin a week long three game home stand. The stretch starts Tuesday night when the Northern Manitoba Blizzard come to town. Then on Saturday Dauphin plays host to the Selkirk Steelers. That'll be followed up by an afternoon affair on Sunday when the Winkler Flyers visit the Kings at 4:00pm. Tuesday and Saturday's games are 7:00pm puck drops!

Following Sunday's game the Kings won't return to Dauphin for two week. They'll play just one game at home in almost a month after Sunday's tilt against Winkler.

THREE STARS

The Dauphin Kings Three Starts of the Week is presented by Parkland Source for Sports and local legend Dave Campbell. It's handed out at the end of the regular season and is based on a point system week-to-week. The Kings' final regular season game is Saturday March 14th vs. the Winnipeg Blues. This is also a Rain Check Night!

The point system works like this:

1st Star = 5 points
2nd Star = 3 points
3rd Star = 1 point

At the end of the season the player with the most points will win the trophy which, again, will be presented by Parkland Source for Sports!

Each week the standings will be updated in the "Three Stars of the Week" article.

THIRD STAR - DANIEL HELARY

D-man Daniel Helary had a quietly very good game Saturday night at Credit Union Place.

The Calgary product tallied a goal and an assist in the outing but had numerous chances and could have easily had four or more points in the contest against the Winnipeg Monarchs.

Last season Helary finished with five goals and 10 assists for 15 points in 48 games. So far this year he is well on his way to passing that point total. In nine games he already has four goals and two assists for six points.

SECOND STAR - JUSTIN PERREAULT

Justin Perreault has played well in all three of his starts so far this season and on Saturday he earned his first shut out win as a Dauphin King.

Against the Monarchs the Winnipeg goalies stopped all 22 shots he faced in the 6-0 win.

Perreault now has a goals against average of 0.67 and a save percentage at .970 through three games.

FIRST STAR - BRETT MAGARRELL

Like Daniel Helary, Brett Magarrell also quietly had a very good game for the Dauphin Kings on Saturday.

Magarrell notched a goal and three assists for the Kings in the win in just his second game back from a long term injury.

The Domain, Manitoba D-man has four points in three games entering action this week.
