Three Stars Of The Week

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings had a mixed bag of results last week as the club picked up a win and a loss in the search for securing top spot in the MJHL West Division.

In case you missed it last week Dauphin had a disappointing 5-2 loss in Portage against the Terriers before hammering the Winnipeg Freeze 13-3 Saturday night at Credit Union Place.

The wins put the Kings at 23-9-1-0 on the season. They'll enter the week first in the West Division. They're tied with Norman for first but have four games in hand.

This week is a busy one for the Kings as the club takes part in four games. First they'll welcome newly acquired forward Nolan Masson (05) on Tuesday when they host the Swan Valley Stampeders. Then on Friday Kings Head Coach & GM Doug Hedley returns to the bench when Dauphin meets up with the Flyers in Winkler. Dauphin closes out their week Saturday night in Winnipeg when they battle the Blues.

All games this week are 7:30pm starts.

Tuesday's game is sponsored by Piston Ring in Dauphin and it's TV Tuesday presented by Fusion Credit Union as well!

THREE STARS

The Dauphin Kings Three Starts of the Week is presented by Parkland Source for Sports and local legend Dave Campbell. It's handed out at the end of the regular season and is based on a point system week-to-week. The Kings' final regular season game is Saturday March 15th vs. the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. This is also a Rain Check Night!

The point system works like this:

1st Star = 5 points
2nd Star = 3 points
3rd Star = 1 point

At the end of the season the player with the most points will win the trophy which, again, will be presented by Parkland Source for Sports!

Each week the standings will be updated in the "Three Stars of the Week" article.

THIRD STAR - MATTHEW HAUN

Like a handful of Kings Matthew Haun picked up a few points in Dauphin's win over the Freeze, grabbing a goal and three assists.

The Minnesota product has been a solid addition to the Kings this year with his consistent play on the back end.

Coming into the week Haun 9th on the Kings in scoring with two goals and 15 assists for 17 points.

SECOND STAR - ETHAN STEWART

Brand product Ethan Stewart has had a very good rookie season for the Dauphin Kings and that continued on Saturday.

The 2006 born forward notched two goals and two assists for the Kings in their win against the Freeze.

Stewart is well out front when it comes to rookie scoring on the Kings. He's inside the team's top five scorers with five goals and 15 assists on the year.

FIRST STAR - CAYDEN GLOVER

Another Brandon forward, Cayden Glover, had a very good week and likely should have been recognized by the MJHL as a Star of the Week after putting up an average of 2.50 PPG last week.

Glover enters the week atop the Kings in scoring with 27 goals and 17 assists for 44 points. His goal total is 1st in the MJHL while his point total is 6th.
