Three Stars Of The Week

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings continued their strong start to the season over the weekend with another two victories, pushing their record to 4-0-0-0.

In case you missed it Dauphin beat the Titans 4-1 in Neepawa on Friday and then followed that up with a 3-1 decision over Neepawa on Saturday at Credit Union Place.

Some good tests are now on the horizon for the Kings as their season high five game home stand continues this week.

On Tuesday the Kings welcome Winkler for the first Fusion Credit Union TV Tuesday game of the season! Then on Friday Dauphin entertains the Portage Terriers for game three of the home stand. After Friday's game (Oct. 4) the Kings will not play again until October 12th. Both games this week are 7:30pm starts!

THREE STARS

The Dauphin Kings Three Starts of the Week is presented by Parkland Source for Sports and local legend Dave Campbell. It's handed out at the end of the regular season and is based on a point system week-to-week. The Kings' final regular season game is Saturday March 15th vs. the Waywayseecappo Wolverines. This is also a Rain Check Night!

The point system works like this:

1st Star = 5 points
2nd Star = 3 points
3rd Star = 1 point

At the end of the season the player with the most points will win the trophy which, again, will be presented by Parkland Source for Sports!

Each week the standings will be updated in the "Three Stars of the Week" article.

THIRD STAR - COLE SHEFFIELD

Another strong weekend for Kings' goalie Cole Sheffield with two wins over Neepawa.

The busier night of the two was Friday where Sheffield turned aside 28 of 29 shots. He needed to be sharp especially in the first period when his team struggled to find their legs early on, but eventually they did.

On Saturday Sheffield's night was much slower and he was just a few minutes away from his second shut out of the season. He turned aside 15 of 16 shots at Credit Union Place.

Sheffield now has a record of 4-0 with a .966 save percentage and a 1.00 goals against average.

SECOND STAR - TY PRATTE

A good overall week for Kings D-man Ty Pratte. The Moose Jaw, SK product added three assists to his totals on the year.

Friday Pratte picked up one assists and followed that up with two apples on Saturday at Credit Union Place in Dauphin's win.

Pratte (4A) is now tied with Cayden Glover (3G, 1A) and Naaman Hofer (1G, 3A) for the team lead in points with four.

FIRST STAR - NAAMAN HOFER

Naaman Hofer also put up a solid weekend on the back end for the Dauphin Kings. He scored a goal and added two assists over two games.

First on Friday he had an assists. Then on Saturday he scored his first of the season and added an assist en route to being named the game's third star.

As mentioned above Hofer now has four points on the season. He and Ty Pratte are inside the top 10 when it comes to points for MJHL Defencemen.
