Terriers Shut Out Kings

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings once again struggled off the hop but this time it cost them in a 4-0 loss to the Portage Terriers Friday night.

Unlike Tuesday win over OCN the Kings couldn't recover from the early deficit. Two goals in the opening five minutes had the Kings down 2-0 and goalie Ethan Slobodzian was pulled in Bryan Landsberger for the second straight contest.

Landsberger came in and played decent, but gave up two goals on 29 shots. Slobdzian ended the night with six saves on eight shots.

Portage made it a 4-0 contest with a goal in the late stages of the opening period and one more just after the three minute mark in the second.

The Kings played ok after the opening two goals, but the club once again struggled to bury their chances and Portage's Ethan Peterson picked up the shut out, stopping all 24 shots he saw.

Dauphin failed to score on five man advantages. If there is a bright spot for the Kings Friday, it was that they held the Terriers off the scoreboard when it came to the power play.

Next up for the Kings is game two of this four game home stand. They'll welcome the Selkirk Steelers to Credit Union Place on Saturday. Puck drop is 7:30pm!

Dauphin's record now sits at 19-19-4 on the season.
