DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings couldn't generate any offence in a 3-0 loss to the Portage Terriers Friday night at Credit Union Place.
The 50th Anniversary Game for the Kings drew a very solid crowd but Dauphin couldn't come out with the victory in the contest.
The opening frame had the Terriers notching two goals and outplaying the Kings. Portage out shot Dauphin 23-4 in the frame and scored one goal on the man advantage.
Play evened out a little in the second period but the Terriers padded their lead with their third goal of the night. Portage out shot Dauphin 20-15 in the middle frame.
The third period saw the two teams pretty even in shots once again, but neither were able to score. Portage had 12 shots to Dauphin's 10.
Brennan Kitchen was the first star of the night for the Kings. He turned aside 52 of 55 (.946 save percentage) shots while his team had 29 on the Portage net.
Power Plays had the Terriers getting one goal on three opportunities while the Kings couldn't get anything going on three chances.
The decision puts the Kings' record to 4-17-2 on the MJHL season. They'll try and redeem themselves on Saturday night when they head south to take on the Neepawa Natives. Game time is 7:30pm!
