The standings are tight and two huge points are up for grabs on Tuesday evening as the Dauphin Kings hit the ice against the Portage Terriers.
It’s the first meeting between the second-place team in the West and the Centennial Cup-hosting Terriers.
Dauphin enters the game fresh off a 6-4 win against the Winnipeg Freeze and they’re in a tie second in the MGEU West Division with a record of 13-8-2. Portage; meanwhile, is 16-4 and they’re in third place in the MGEU East Division.
Tied with Swan Valley in the division, Dauphin does have one game in hand on the Stampeders while the Terriers are four points back of Steinbach and they have two games in hand over the Pistons.
The Terriers are the most penalized team in the league as they have racked up 500 penalty minutes this season. They are also one of the most lethal teams offensively in the league with 91 goals scored, Dauphin has scored 79 times.
The Neepawa Titans take on Waywayseecappo this evening, the Titans are just three points back of the final playoff spot and they’re just six points back of second.
Tuesday’s game also marks the return of Hayden Lacquette. He played 18 games with Dauphin last season, he’s from Dauphin and he’s having a great season with Portage as he has five goals and 16 assists.
