Terriers Double Kings

PORTAGE, MB - Two goals in the third period on the man advantage was the difference Friday as the Dauphin Kings fell 4-2 to the Portage Terries to open their best-of-seven series.

The Kings played well enough in the opening period to get a 1-0 lead on Portage after 20. Braeden Young opened the Kings' playoff scoring in the opening period.

Portage would even things up in the middle frame, sending it to the third period tied 1-1.

The Terriers would go ahead 2-1 in the third put the Kings pushed back well and Cole DeKoninck would score on the power play to tie it up at two. A four minute power play later in the frame would allow Portage to get ahead 4-2 and that's where it ended.

Levi Mitchell took the loss between the pipes but played well, he turned aside 44 of the 48 shots he faced. His team mustered 23 on the Terrier goal.

The Kings went 1 for 5 on the power play Friday while Portage wen 2 for 7.

Dauphin will return home and looked to regroup ahead of game two of the series on Sunday. The contest goes at 6:30pm. Game three is back in Dauphin on Tuesday!
