WINNIPEG, MB - An overall poor effort by the Dauphin Kings resulted in the club's fourth loss of the MJHL season, a 5-0 defeat at the hands of the Selkirk Steelers Tuesday night.
Dauphin couldn't get anything going from the start of the hockey game, and eventually at the midway point of the first the Steelers would go up 1-0. Selkirk would make it 2-0 before the first 20 minutes concluded. They would then score two more in the second and one more in the third to close things out.
Matthias Smith stopped 21 of 26 shots he faced in net for the Kings while the team in front of him put up 26 shots as well.
Dauphin finished the night 0 for 5 on the power play and a bright spot on the evening was the team's penalty kill, which was 6 for 6.
The Kings' record falls to 1-4-0 on the season.
The Kings will look to regroup ahead of Friday when they welcome the league leading Portage Terriers to Credit Union Place. The game is presented by the Dauphin Fire Department and puck drop is slated for 7:30pm!
