Steelers earn weekend split, down Kings

The Dauphin Kings were looking for their 12th win of the season but instead, they’re heading home with just 11.

Heading into Selkirk to play the 1-11-3-1 Selkirk Steelers, Selkirk scored a late goal in the third and held on for a 2-1 win over Dauphin. Myles Yearwood scored Dauphin’s lone goal in the game and it came in the first period.

Selkirk responded with Ethan Brown and Peyton Hinkel-Lysak both scoring a goal. Dauphin still ends the season series against Selkirk with three wins and they remain in second place in the MGEU West Division. However, they now only have a two point lead over Swan Valley for that second spot and Waywayseecappo is in fifth, but they’re only five points back.

Dauphin will be on home ice twice next weekend, as they play Virden on Saturday at Credit Union Place and then Winkler comes to town on Sunday afternoon.
