Stampeders Trip Up Kings

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings played down to one of the worst teams in the MJHL and it cost them in a 4-2 loss to the Swan Valley Stampeders Wednesday night at Credit Union Place.

Dauphin gave up the game's opening goal 11:38 into the opening period but Joey Kubas (5) tallied off a nice tip in front to tie things up less than a minute later to make it 1-1 after 20.

In the second period Havryil Simchuk (8) scored on a nice individual effort to give the Kings a 2-1 advantage heading into the third.

The final frame Dauphin were caught on their heels multiple times. The Stampeders scored twice in a quick two minutes span to make it 3-2 and they'd score late to take the contest 4-2.

The Kings heavily out shot the Stampeders 47-25 including 23-8 in the first period but they couldn't find the back of the net.

Cole Sheffield took the loss in goal and his team went 0 for 3 on the Power Play and 4 for 4 on the Penalty Kill.

The loss puts the Kings at 29-13-1-1 on the season. Still tops in the West Division, but they've now burned up all their games in hand they had on the Norther Manitoba Blizzard. Dauphin leads the division by seven points.

Next up for the Kings is an affair with the Neepawa Titans on Friday Night. It's Ladies Night and it's presented by Dr.Brenna & Three Graces Medi Spa. There will be lots to do at the rink so don't miss it! Game time Friday is 7:30pm!
