Stampeders Edge Kings 4-3

SWAN RIVER, MB - A bad start to the second period may have cost the Dauphin Kings some points Tuesday night in a 4-3 loss to the Swan Valley Stampeders.

So far this season the issue for the Kings has been their starts to games, but that wasn't the case on this night. Dauphin had an excellent first period, and after the Stampeders opened the scoring the club responded when Carter Sawchuk potted his fifth of the campaign. The goal was set up by Samson Mouland who beat out an icing call to set up Sawchuk in front. The two teams went to the intermission tied 1-1.

The middle frame is where things came a little undone for Dauphin. Swan Valley scored twice in the opening two minutes to go ahead 3-1. Mitchell Joss (3) would get one back for his team when he treated the fans to a bar down wrist shot in the Stampeder zone. Swan Valley would score one late to regain their two goal lead heading into the third.

Dauphin's final period was solid and the team did get within one when Eamonn Miller notched his first as a King in his first game with the group. The goal was shorthanded and made it 4-3 Swan. That's how things would finish despite Dauphin's late push.

Brennan Kitchen took the loss in goal, stopping 32 of 36 shots while his team fired 27 at the Stampeder net. No team was able to capitalize on the power play Tuesday night.

The loss drops the Kings to 9-7-0 on the year. Now Dauphin gets set for a stretch that will see them play eight of their next 13 games at Credit Union Place. The string begins Friday when the club had a week later rematch with the Winkler Flyers. Game time is 7:30pm.

The Dauphin Kings Tractor Lotto kicks off at Friday night's game!
