Smith The Latest King To Move On

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings continue to pump out commitments as the off season rolls on.

This time it's Avery Smith going on to the next level. Smith has committed to the Saint Mary's University of Minnesota Cardinals (NCAA DIV III) for the 2020-21 campaign!

Smith spent two seasons with the Kings and put up 25 goals and 18 assists for 43 points. The Trophy Club, Texas, forward played 108 contests with Dauphin.

"It feels so nice to have a plan in motion for the next 4 years of my life" says Smith. "I chose Saint Mary’s because it was the right fit for me both academically and in hockey. Coach Egan’s enthusiasm spreads positive energy that I want to be around for the next 4 years."

The forward was entertaining to watch during his time in Dauphin and says he really enjoyed his time in Canada and in the City of Sunshine.

"The two years I spent with the Dauphin Kings have been the best years of my life thus far. The Kings organization and the people of Dauphin made me feel right at home and created a culture that made me eager to be at the rink every day to continue to better myself. Every kid should want to be a part of something as great as the Dauphin Kings" he said.

"What I’ll miss most about the city of Dauphin is playing games at Credit Union Place and hearing Pour Some Sugar On Me play while we celebrated our goals."
