Sheffield, Kings Stop Flyers, Win Third Straight

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings fell behind a couple times but battled back for their second straight win, a 4-3 victory over the Winnipeg Blues Friday night at Credit Union Place.

The opening 20 minute saw both teams get their chances. Winkler started things off before Ethan Williment notched his sixth of the season on the man advantage.

In the middle frame things again were pretty even but Cole Sheffield stood tall when the Kings had to kill off a double minor to Naaman Hofer for high sticking late in the period.

The final period is where Kings goalie Cole Sheffield stood tall and he was rewarded with the lead when Josh Schmidt scored his first of the season off a great tip on the man advantage. Winkler had chances late but couldn't beat Sheffield who was named the game's first star.

In the end Sheffield turned aside 34 of the 35 shots he faced. On the other side the Kings had 20 on the Winkler net.

The Kings were solid on the Special Teams side with their Power Play going 2 for 7 while their Penalty Kill ended 3 for 3.

With the victory the Kings are now 10-4-0-0 on the season. Next up for the club is a two game road swing next weekend in the Winnipeg area. They'll start Friday in Winnipeg against the Freeze and then Saturday they'll go on to play the Selkirk Steelers. Dauphin returns to Credit Union Place on Friday November 8th when they face off with the Steinbach Pistons.
