Sheffield gets top honour, joined by Smith & Stewart

Cole Sheffield had a week to remember last week and because of it, he’s the first star in this week’s Parkland Source for Sports Three Stars of the Week!

1st Star – Cole Sheffield:

You can’t start the week better than Sheffield did. He recorded his first MJHL shutout on Monday night as he turned away 21 shots in a 5-0 win against the Wolverines.

The great performance came just a few days after he was sensational in a game against Neepawa as he turned away 38 shots in a 5-1 win.

Then in his third start of the week, Cole made 32 saves in a win against the Selkirk Steelers. Cole is now 7-2-2 on the season and his .910 save percentage is paired with a 2.78 goals-against average as he continues to make a big impact between the pipes with his new team.

2nd Star – Mason Smith:

It was a big game as Dauphin was looking to rebound from a loss against them 24 hours prior and Smith helped make it happen.

He recorded his first hat-trick with the club as Dauphin downed the Wolverines, 5-0. Smith now has four goals and four assists in his last 10 games and six goals and nine assists on the season.

3rd Star – Thomas Stewart:

For the first time in his junior career, the young man from Dauphin has goals in back-to-back games. He achieved that feat last week.

To open the week, Stewart tipped in a shot in the team’s win over Waywayseecappo. Then he added his third goal of the season in a 5-2 win over Selkirk.

Missing some time due to injury this year, Thomas continues to look better game by game.

Season-long standings:

Five points are up for grabs for the first star each week, three points go for the second star and a single point is up for grabs for the third star
