The Swan Valley Stampeders just won’t go away in their first-round series with the Dauphin Kings.

In a game that lasted nearly three hours, Carter Cockburn scored 32 seconds into double overtime as the Stampeders sealed a 5-4 win. The win now means game six is going to Swan River.

Nick Braun opened the scoring for the Kings before the Stampeders would tie it with Callum Fortin scoring early in the second. Braun would give Dauphin a 2-1 lead early in the frame before the Stampeders busted the game open.

Lare Pahtayken, Trey Sauder and Justin Keck scored as the Stampeders took a 4-2 lead into the third period.

In the final frame, Dauphin didn’t go down without a fight as Parker Malchuk and Nick Braun scored on the man advantage to tie the game up at four and force overtime. Ultimately, the Stampeders would close it out with their captain.

Game six is Sunday at 6:00 p.m. from the Centennial Arena. You can hear it on 730CKDM with Darnell Duff or on HockeyTV.
