Josh Schmidt is the latest Dauphin Kings' player to solidify the next step in his hockey journey.
The graduating forward from Markham, Ontario will be taking his game to the Chatham University Cougars (NCAA DIV III) in 2026-27.
Schmidt was a key piece of the Kings over the last three years. The forward was relied on in big moments to shut down other players with his line mates Rylan Gage and Sheldon Shyiak.
Schmidt's biggest moment as a King was arguably when he scored the overtime winner against the Northern Manitoba Blizzard in game two of the MJHL Final in 2025. At the time the Kings were in danger of going down 2-0 in the series and Schmidt's goal gave the club new life heading back to Dauphin for game three.
In his time with Dauphin Schmidt played 150 regular season contests, picking up 21 goals and 26 assists. In the playoffs he was steady, taking part in 27 games, adding three goals and three assists. Two of his three playoff markers were overtime game winners!
