Saturday In Selkirk

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings close out a quick Winnipeg road swing tonight when they head north to play the Steelers in Selkirk for the final time this season.

Dauphin grabbed a 4-3 win in Winnipeg against the Freeze Friday night while the Steelers, much like before the last time they met the Kings, were blown out. This time it was the Steinbach Pistons who did the Steelers in, beating them 5-1 in Selkirk on Friday.

The Kings will look to stay atop the West Division tonight as the Norman Blizzard host the Winkler Flyers and are one point behind Dauphin coming into the night.

Opening face off in Winnipeg tonight is 7:30pm!

TONIGHT'S MATCH UP

KINGS (11-4-0-0)

If the Dauphin Kings are to come away with two points Saturday night they will need to start the game in Selkirk on time. Friday night the Kings struggled out of the gate in Winnipeg and fell behind 2-0 in the opening period.

The Kings' schedule has been a bit slow as of late as the team tries to find a rhythm in their season. After tonight things will pick up starting on Friday when they host Steinbach, but first they must focus on the task at hand.

Dauphin's Power Play was excellent on Friday going 3 for 5. It's now ranked 3rd in the league at 25.4% while their Penalty Kill is tied with Niverville for 2nd at 85.7%

Naaman Hofer added two more assists to his total on the season. He's now at 19 points with a goal and 18 assists.

STEELERS (12-4-0-1)

The Selkirk Steelers have started to come back down to earth a little after their impressive start to the season. It was a start that was not sustainable though and every team goes through rough patches during a lengthy season.

Selkirk dropped that 5-1 decision to Steinbach Friday night and have lost three of their last four games coming into tonight's affair with the Kings. The Steelers won't play again after tonight until they meet the Kings next Sunday in Dauphin.

Selkirk's Special Teams see their Power Play sitting 6th in the MJHL at 23% while their Penalty Kill is 4th at 83.1%.

Owen Warnick has nine goals and 15 assists for 24 points to lead the Steelers so far this season. He's 2nd in the MJHL.
