NEEPAWA, MB - It was a little bit of déjà vu for the Dauphin Kings and Neepawa Natives Wednesday night as Neepawa once again skated to a 3-2 victory over Dauphin.
Rolls were a little reversed when it came to the scoring as it was the Natives who opened things up just over four minutes into the first period. The Kings would respond quickly however, Riese Gaber picked up his third goal in as many games to get his club back on even terms. Dauphin would then add another late in the frame when Kyle Oleksiuk flicked a wrist shot from the high slot. The shot found its way to the back of the net to give Dauphin a 2-1 advantage.
Neepawa would get two of their own goals in the second period, one in the opening minute and another in the final four minutes to go up 3-2.
That's the way things would stay in the third period. The Kings would out play and out shoot the Natives (8-4) but for the second straight night they couldn't notch the tying goal.
Brady Weiss started for Dauphin, allowing two goals on 14 shots. Parker Waseylenko would stop nine of ten after replacing Weiss in the middle frame.
Power Plays saw the Kings end the night 1 for 5 while Neepawa was 0 for 4.
Next up for Dauphin is a home-and-home with the Virden Oil Capitals to close out their pre season, it begins Friday night at Credit Union Place. Game time is 7:30pm!
