Round 7: Kings vs Blizzard

For the second time in less than a week, the Dauphin Kings make their way up north to play the OCN Blizzard. Dauphin swept the Blizzard last weekend which included a 3-1 win at the Gordon Lathlin Memorial Centre.

Thursday’s contest is the seventh of eight between the two teams with the final meeting coming on Saturday at Credit Union Place. Dauphin has won five of six meetings against OCN this year and have outscored them 8-1 in the past two games meanwhile in all six meetings, Dauphin has scored 26 goals against the Blizzard while giving up just 10.

The game will also be OCN’s third in as many days as they played the Oil Capitals on Tuesday and Wednesday, earning just two points. OCN will enter the game 11 points back of a playoff spot and will have to go on a heater if they want to make the big dance.

Eight of OCN’s wins this season have come on home ice and the Gordon Lathlin is always one of the most hostile rinks to play in.

“The fans are awesome, honestly the energy they have gives me energy and the rest of the team as well,” said Nolan Wickham. “They’re passionate about their team and it’s great to see.”

You can hear the game on 730CKDM with Darnell Duff.
