YORKTON, SK - The Dauphin Kings bounced back after a 3-2 loss on home ice Friday, beating the Terriers in Yorkton 6-5 on Saturday.
The Kings jumped out to a great start, going up 4-0 on the Terriers just over seven minutes into the game. Matthew Pitchenese got things going for the Kings, continuing to be very effective he capitalized after Yorkton coughed up the puck behind their net. Nick Ness, Matt Bartel and Riese Gaber all followed up Pitchenese's goal for Dauphin. The Terriers would put a little dent in the Kings' lead with a late goal in the first.
In the second period the Terriers continued to chip away, making it 4-2. The teams would then trade a couple goals in the middle frame. The Kings got markers from Bradyn Smelski and Brendan Arnold, making it 6-3 going into the third. Yorkton would score a couple in the final period but the Kings held on to the victory.
Parker Waseylenko and Brady Weiss shared the win in goal for the Kings Saturday. Waselenko turned aside 10 of 12 shots while Weiss stopped 9 of the 12 he faced. Dauphin out shot Yorkton 27-24.
The victory puts the Kings at 3-1-0 in the pre season. They'll resume their exhibition schedule on Tuesday when they welcome the Neepawa Natives to Credit Union Place. Game time is 7:30pm!
