Return Of The King

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings, Ruff's Furniture and the organizers for this weekend's Ukrainian Night game are pleased to announce that Stanley Cup Champion Barry Trotz will return to the City of Sunshine for the annual contest.

Trotz, who is coming off a Stanley Cup win with the Washington Capitals, is returning after returning home in the summer with the championship trophy.

The former Kings Captain recently donated over $150,000.00 back into the community from the Stanley Cup Fundraiser back in August, including over $25,000.00 to the Dauphin Kings Jr. A Hockey Club.

"It's really exciting for us to have Barry coming back and getting a chance to see one of our most important games of the season" says Kings Director of Marketing & Media Relations Christian Laughland.

Trotz will drop the puck before the game starts on Saturday night at Credit Union Place.

"Ukrainian Night is one of our biggest attended games of the year and we're hoping everyone inside the community will come out, celebrate with us and watch two great MJHL rivals battle it out on the ice" added Laughland. "It's probably been a very long time since Barry has been in the stands to watch his home town team play."

Trotz recently had a street named after him in the summer and his return drew a very big crowd to the arena on August 22nd.

Tickets for Ukrainian Night are available at Ruff's Furniture in Dauphin and will be available at Credit Union Place on game day.

"We suggest people arrive early so they don't miss out on any of the atmosphere ahead of the game" added Laughland.

There's over 1,000 fake Kubassa available to be purchased for the world famous Kubassa Toss in the first intermission along with a chance to go on the ice for the Recliner Races in the second intermission! Before the game fans will want to be in their seats early for player introductions which will start right around 7:25pm.

Ukrainian Night festivities kick off right around 5:00pm on Saturday, game time between the Kings and Terriers is just after 7:30pm.
