STEINBACH, MB - The Dauphin Kings appeared to have two points but they had to settle for one in Steinbach on Friday night in a 5-4 shootout loss to the Pistons.
It was a back and forth affair between the two teams. Steinbach jumped out to a 2-0 lead with goals early in the first and second period.
The Kings would claw their way back in the middle frame with Grady Hobbs (12) and Kolby Johnson (7) scoring to get Dauphin back on even terms after 40 minutes.
In the third period the Kings would snag their first lead of the night when Bryon Fobair (12) scored from a sharp angle after a Dauphin man advantage expired. Steinbach would answer back about four minutes later to make it 3-3. The Kings bounce right back just over three minutes later as Fobair snagged his second of the night.
The game would go forward and late in the third the Kings appeared to have scored to go up 5-3 on Steinbach but it was called no goal by the four officials on the ice. The Pistons would go on to score with just under two minutes left to send the affair to overtime where nothing was settled.
The contest would then go to a shootout where the Pistons would edge the Kings in five rounds.
Dauphin had one goal on the man advantage Friday and did not give up any on the penalty kill.
Bryan Landsberger was solid in goal, turning aside 30 of 34 shots while his team put 42 on the Steinbach goal.
Dauphin pockets another key point in the standings and see their record go to 23-20-6 on the season. They'll regroup and go north to play the Steelers in Selkirk on Saturday. Game time is 7:00pm!
