STEINBACH, MB - A bad two minute stretch late in the second period did the Dauphin Kings in Saturday in a 7-2 loss to the Steinbach Pistons.
The Kings and Pistons played an entertaining opening 20 minutes. Dauphin opened the scoring 1:35 into the affair when Brendan Arnold notched his 7th of the season from Kyle Oleksiuk and Landon Lushanko. The goal was on the man advantage. Steinbach would respond about four minutes later when they tallied two straight in 17 seconds to make it 2-1 after 20.
In the second period Steinbach jumped ahead 3-1 at the midway point. The Kings settled down after the goal against and played well until about the 18 minute mark of the second, then the Pistons scored three before the end of the frame to make it 6-1.
The third was pretty even with both teams scoring once. Kyle Oleksiuk tallied his 16th of the year from Briscoe and Northey on the Power Play before the Pistons made it 7-2.
Brennan Kitchen suffered the loss in goal but couldn't be faulted. He stopped 38 of 45 while his team put 24 shots on the Steinbach goal.
Dauphin scored both their goals on the Power Play Saturday while the Pistons picked up just one goal on the man advantage.
The Kings have three games remaining in their season. They'll look to bounce back in their final home game of the year on Tuesday when they face off with the Wayway Wolverines at Credit Union Place. Puck drop is 7:30pm!
