Pistons Edge Kings In Overtime

DAUPHIN, MB - A well matched contest between the Dauphin Kings and Steinbach Pistons went the way of Steinbach Friday night at Credit Union Place.

Dauphin gained a point in the overtime loss but fell 4-3.

In the opening period the Kings started the scoring when Naaman Hofer picked up his second of the year on the Power Play but Steinbach answered with two goals to take a 2-1 advantage into the middle frame.

The second period was a pretty quiet one until the second half until the Kings tied up the game with about eight minutes to go, then things opened up for the remainder of the frame. It was Gabriel Bugeaud's fifth of the year. The two teams went into the intermission tied 2-2.

In the third the Pistons scored just over two minutes in to go ahead. After that the Kings played well but waited until the dying seconds to tie it. Ashton Paul notched his sixth of the season to send the game to overtime.

In OT the Kings had their chances but the Pistons scored off the rush to grab the extra point in what was a pretty entertaining game for the fans.

Dauphin ended up out shooting Steinbach 33-32 in the affair and both teams finished the night 1 for 5 on the man advantage. Cole Sheffield played well in the contest.

The loss is the Kings' first extra time loss of the season and slips them to 12-4-1-0 on the season. They remain first in the West Division, two points up on Norman and now even in games played.

Next up for Dauphin is an afternoon affair with the Selkirk Steelers on Sunday. Game time at Credit Union Place is 4:00pm!
