Pistons Edge Kings In OT

STEINBACH, MB – The Dauphin Kings gave the top ranked team in the CJHL a good run, but couldn’t squeeze two points out of the Pistons in a 3-2 overtime loss Friday night.

The Kings outplayed the Pistons a number of times in the tilt including in the third period when Kyle Oleksiuk grabbed his fifth of the season (Below) to give Dauphin a 2-1 advantage. However the Pistons tied things up with just over a minute to play in the final frame.

The other scorer for the Kings Friday night was Brendan Arnold (Below), who notched his first MJHL goal on the power play off a nice set up by Riese Gaber.

Speaking of Special Teams Dauphin ended the night 1 for 3 on the man advantage, Steinbach had double the chances and went 2 for 6.

Brandon Holtby was excellent between the pipes, stopping 28 of 31 shots while the Kings fired 19 on the Pistons goal, which was occupied by Roman Bengert.

With the OT loss Dauphin drops to 2-9-1 on the season and will look to finish the job Saturday night when the two teams square off again in Steinbach. Game time is 7:30pm. Check back here tomorrow for more!
