Nighthawks Double Kings

DAUPHIN, MB - The Kings opened the scoring but three unanswered goals by Niverville led to Dauphin's third straight loss, a 4-2 decision Saturday night at Credit Union Place.

The first 20 minutes saw the Kings play a great first period. It was capped by a Rylan Gage (9) Power Play goal in the final five minutes set up by Joey Kubas. The Kings would take that lead to the middle frame.

In the second the Kings continued their strong play but it was Niverville tying things up.

The third had the Nighthawks gain a rare Penalty Shot after one Kings player allegedly covered the puck with his glove in the Dauphin goal crease. Niverville would score on it, taking a 2-1 lead. They'd score again shortly after to make it 3-1. Joey Kubas (11) would get the Kings close but Niverville would score to regain their two goal lead just 17 seconds later, ending the game at 4-2.

Special Teams were solid Saturday night for the Kings. They finished 1 for 4 on the Power Play and 2 for 2 on the Penalty Kill.

Shots were even at 29 a piece. Bryson Yaschyshyn suffered the loss in goal for the Kings.

Next up for Dauphin is a trip north to The Pas on Tuesday. They'll face the Northern Manitoba Blizzard for the third to last time this season. It's a make up game from December 16th when things were postponed due to road closures and poor weather. Opening face off on Tuesday is 7:00pm.
