Local Lion Part 14

One of the great things about growing up in Dauphin and playing hockey is the options and oppurtunities players have. This week’s Local Lion, Brendan Bogoslowski, is a good example.

Bogoslowski spent the majority of last season patrolling the blue line for the Dauphin Clippers in the Westman High School Hockey League. In 45 games with the Clippers Bogoslowski had 17 points. He also was able to get into action as an AP with the Parkland Rangers appearing in 6 games with last years Telus Cup Regional hosts.

It’s no coincidence that Bogoslowski’s favourite King growing up was also a former Dauphin Clipper.

“Ryan Dreger” stated Bogoslowski. “He was a local guy and he scored a lot of goals. He was fun to watch and he went on to play Division III Hockey.”

The Kings selected Bogoslowski with one of two of their Auto Protected picks in 2014. Since then, they have been monitoring his development throughout the past two seasons and at the Kings camps.

“Brendan is a puck moving defenceman.” said Kings Assistant Coach Marc Berry. “He sees the ice well and uses his teammates effectively. Playing last season with the Dauphin Clippers in the WHSHL really helped his confidence and development. He was able to get a lot of ice time and play in all situations. Brendan will have to continue to work on his strength and foot speed in the next couple of seasons, but we’re happy with his progress so far. With some hard work, we’re hoping to see him in a Kings jersey someday.”

Bogoslowski knows what it means to put on that jersey.

“The expectations are so high. The high amount of wins, division titles and league championships and the options and experiences that go with that are what attracts me to the Kings organization the most.” said Bogoslowski. “It would be an honour to play for your hometown junior team, especially the Dauphin Kings.”

Aside from hockey the son of Todd Bogoslowski and Tanya Deleaurier enjoys golfing and fishing. His favourite NHL team is the Pittsburgh Penguins and his favourite player is Drew Doughty from the L.A. Kings. Bogoslowski’s favourite movie is “Goon” and his number of choice is 18.
