DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings controlled the night for the most part and they were rewarded for it late in a 3-1 win over the Neepawa Natives Tuesday night at Credit Union Place.
The Natives got on the board first Tuesday, scoring just 59 seconds into the affair. Dauphin would respond later in the opening 20 minutes when Braeden Young tallied his third off a face off in the Neepawa zone.
The two teams would go scoreless the rest of the way until the third period where Andrew Liwiski's floating wrist shot found its way through and into the back of the net for his second of the season and the game winner.
Baron Thompson (26) would add an empty netter late in the third to finish it off for the Kings.
Dauphin heavily out shot the Natives 51-27 in the contest. Levi Mitchell stood tall for the Kings in the contest.
Dauphin's win is their 30th of the season. The first time the club has won 30 games in a regular season since the 2013-14 campaign. The outcome moves the Kings into a tie with the Virden Oil Capitals for 6th place and are just two points back of Waywayseecappo for 5th.
The Kings return to action on Friday when they host the Winnipeg Blues at Credit Union Place. Game time is 7:30pm. Make sure you come to the game early and check out the Grey Cup! It will be in the lobby at the rink from 6:00pm to 7:00pm! Friday's tilt is presented by Tim Hortons in Dauphin!
