League Final Returns To Dauphin Tied At One

DAUPHIN, MB - What was once a best-of-seven series is now a best-of-five as the Dauphin Kings return to Credit Union Place to host the Northern Manitoba Blizzard for game two of the MJHL Final.

Dauphin picked up a 3-2 triple overtime win on Sunday, snapping NorMan's nine game playoff winning streak that had stretched since the second to last week of March.

TONIGHT'S MATCH UP

Joshua Schmidt played the hero on Sunday, picking a great time to score his first of the post season. He scored just before the midway mark of the third overtime frame to give the Kings the victory while Naaman Hofer (1) and Gabriel Bugeaud (4) also tallied for the Kings.

The series now shifts back to a much larger ice surface in Credit Union Place.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Game two saw the first goal on the Special Teams side as the Northern Manitoba Blizzard were able to capitalize on a Dauphin infraction. They ended the night 1 for 4 on the Power Play. Meanwhile, the Kings had just two man advantage opportunities and they had some chances but were unable to score on them.

Dauphin's Power Play enters tonight at 20.1% while their Penalty Kill is at 83.3%.

On the flip side the Blizzard improved to 22% on the Power Play while their Penalty Kill also notched up, it's at 92.1%.

LEADING SCORERS

The Dauphin Kings saw eight players get a point in Sunday's win over the Blizzard. Entering tonight Dauphin is lead in points by Gabriel Bugeaud (4G, 6A), Havryil Simchuk (4G, 6A) and Cayden Glover (3G, 7A). They all have 10.

The  Blizzard lead the way in MJHL playoff scoring. They have two players with 12 points. They are Marlen Edwards (4G, 8A) and Tyler Dahms (2G, 10A).
