Knee, Kings Take Down Oil Caps

DAUPHIN, MB - Less than a week after signing with the Kings Jaymes Knee gave the fans something to talk about in the club's final home exhibition game as the Kings beat Virden 7-6 in overtime.

Knee notched a hatrick which included the game winning goal in the second half of the extra period.

When it came to the overall contest Dauphin got off to a slow start, allowing Virden to score the game's first three goals. The Kings didn't fall back however, Knee scored the team's first goal later in the opening period to get Dauphin to a 3-1 deficit.

In the second period it was all Kings. Dauphin scored four goals to take the lead after 40 minutes. Wilson Northey, Riese Gaber, Max Durocher and Jimmy Knee had the markers for Dauphin while Virden added one to their total.

With a 5-4 advantage in the final period the Kings would let it slip away, going down 6-5 with less than a minute to go. Brendan Arnold, however, would score with just over 30 seconds to play to put the Kings back on even terms after 60 minutes.

Play in overtime was even for the most part until Knee decided to put the game on his back and get through a couple Oil Caps and score the game winner. It was Knee's hatrick goal.

Parker Waseylenko was the first Dauphin Kings goaltender to start and finish a game this pre season. He stopped 23 of 29 shots. The Kings fired 49 shots on the Virden Goal.

Power Plays saw Dauphin go 2 for 6 while Virden was 2 for 3.

The Kings record is the pre season improves to 4-3-0. They'll close out their exhibition campaign Saturday night in Virden then get almost a week off before heading back down to Tundra Oil & Gas Place to open up the season on Friday!
