Kings, Wolverines Open Best-Of-Seven Set

DAUPHIN, MB - For the first time since 2015 the Dauphin Kings and Waywayseecappo Wolverines meet in an MJHL playoff series.

Back then the series was a best-of-three survivor series, which Wayway won over Dauphin. The last time the Kings and Wolverines faced off in a best-of-seven set was in 2013 when Dauphin took down Waywayseecappo in six games. That year the Kings went on to the MJHL Final where they lost to the Steinbach Pistons in six games.

During this year's regular season the Kings and Wolverines split their meetings with each team winning three contests.

Tonight's game is sponsored by Fusion Credit Union. There will be a special award presentation before the game, then in the first intermission it's the M&M Food Market Express Puck Toss with the pot over $300.00!

TONIGHT'S MATCH UP

The journey begins for both the Kings and Wolverines tonight.

For Dauphin there is aspirations of a long playoff run that stretches well into April. For the Waywayseecappo Wolverines they hope to upset the West Division's top team after squeezing into the post season on the second to last day of the regular season.

If you take out the final weekend of the season the Dauphin Kings went 6-1 on their final seven games before the last weekend of the year. Impressive considering the club's depleted lineup at the time.

For the Wolverines, they finished the campaign with a record 5-2 in their last seven games.

On the other side the Wolverines are 9th in the league on the Power Play at 19.1% while their Penalty Kill is 6th at 81.6%. Wayway's Special Teams are better at home however. Their man advantage is 6th at 23.3% and their PK is 6th as well at 83%.

LEADING SCORERS

Dauphin's leading scorers, at least when it comes to forwards, were injured down the stretch of the regular season. Cayden Glover (33G, 19A), who missed the final two months of the season, leads the Kings in points with 52 coming into tonight.

Waywayseecappo's leading scorer, Jaxon Grosdidier (25G, 26A), played all but one game in the regular season and still finished behind Glover with 51 points. Wayway has three players over the 30 point mark from 2024-25. Dauphin has eight.
