TONIGHT'S MATCHUP
KINGS (26-20-2-0) -2nd in West
The Kings gave away a point Saturday night in Winnipeg to a team that didn't need it. With 17 seconds left in the contest with the Blues Dauphin held the lead 2-1 before Winnipeg tied it and eventually won the game in overtime. Hopefully the lost point does not come back to burn the Kings.
When it comes to today the Kings are still in control of their own destiny when talking about second place. A victory this afternoon would push Dauphin four points ahead of the Wolverines and be even in games with nine each remaining in their seasons. A victory today would also clinch the season series for the Kings. They're 3-1 against Waywayseecappo so far. However the last time these two teams met it was the Wolverines coming out on top winning 3-1.
Special Teams failed to score Saturday in Winnipeg and gave up a goal against. On the Power Play Dauphin enters the game 8th at 22.8% while on the Penalty Kill they're 9th at 77.7%.
Matthew O'Sullivan (22G, 18A) and Nicholas Zaharias (13G, 27A) are both tied with 40 points to lead the Kings in scoring.
WOLVERINES (24-20-2-2) - 3rd in West
The Waywayseecappo Wolverines are arguably the hottest team in the MJHL right now. The Wolverines are currently on an 11 game point streak, going 9-0-1-1 in that span. The results have helped push them up into the race for home ice advantage in the West Division.
Looking at the remaining schedule the Wolverines have six games on home ice and four on the road. They play three of those games against teams outside the playoff picture (Swan Valley & NorMan x 2). For the Kings it's the opposite, they'll play four at home and six on the road with four of those games coming against clubs outside the post season grouping.
The Wolverines are a much different team at home than they are on the road when it comes to Special Teams. Overall Wayway is 6th in the MJHL on the Power Play at 23.3% and 5th on the Penalty Kill at 81.1%. At home their Power Play is 25.3% and their Penalty Kill is 81.7%.
Sebastien Hicks is 3rd in MJHL scoring with 65 points coming into tonight (30G, 35A).
