Kings, Wolverines Begin MJHL Post Season In Dauphin

DAUPHIN, MB - After not seeing each other in the MJHL Playoffs for 10 years the Dauphin Kings and Waywayseecappo Wolverines meet for the second year in a row when they kick off their opening round series in Dauphin tonight.

TONIGHT'S MATCH UP

The journey begins for both the Kings and Wolverines tonight.

For Dauphin there is once again hope for a long post season run that takes them deep into April. For Waywayseecappo, the Wolverines will be driven to bounce back after losing to the Kings in five games last spring. In 2025 the Wolverines snuck into the playoffs on the second to last day of the regular season. This year they were clearly in the post season since January.

The Kings, meanwhile, had a turbulent January but have responded since early February. Since February 6th the Kings are 10-3-1-0, including 5-1-0-0 on home ice. They enter the post season on a four game winning streak.

SPECIAL TEAMS

Dauphin's Special Teams were hit and miss at times during the regular season. In their final five regular season games Dauphin finished 3 for 18 on the Power Play (17%) and 11 for 14 on the Penalty Kill (79%). The Kings finished the year at 22.7% on the man advantage and 78.5% on the PK.

On the other side the Wolverines were a solid Penalty Kill team during the regular season. They finished at 81.3% while their Power Play was just below Dauphin's at 22.2%.

LEADING SCORERS

Dauphin's leading scorer was Ethan Stewart during the regular season. He finished with 19 goals and 29 assists in 42 contests which was a point per game average of 1.14. The Kings have eight players on their team who picked up at least 30 points in the regular season.

Waywayseecappo's leading scorer was Sebastien Hicks. He had 33 goals and 44 assists for 77 points and likely deserved a little bit more respect when it came to the MJHL's regular season awards. Hicks' point per game average was 1.37. He finished third in league scoring.  The Wolverines had six players on their team who picked up at least 30 points in the regular season.
