Kings Win Sixth Straight, Take Out Steelers 2-1

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings are winners of six straight after edging the Selkirk Steelers 2-1 on Country Night at Credit Union Place.

Havryil Simchuk was the hero Saturday night, scoring his 13th of the regular season late in the final frame.

Dauphin got out to a good start when Gavin Haslam (6) scored on the man advantage with 3:27 to go in the opening period.

The Kings would carry that lead until the seven minute mark of the second period when the Steelers would tie things up on their own Power Play.

In the third period both teams had their chances but Havryil Simchuk was in the right place at the right time to tally for the Kings with less than seven minutes to go.

Bryson Yaschyshyn was solid in the win for Dauphin, stopping 30 of 31 shots while his team fired 44  on the Selkirk net.

Power Plays ended with both teams going 1 for 3.

Dauphin is now 16-5-1-0 on the season and continue to be first in the MJHL's West Division, seven points ahead of Virden. They'll be right back at it tomorrow afternoon when they host the Winkler Flyers at Credit Union Place. Game time is 4:00pm!
