DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings are back in their series with the Portage Terriers after the MJHL MVP scored the game winner in double overtime Tuesday night.
It was the only goal needed as the Kings took the affair 1-0 to make the series 2-1 Portage with game four in Dauphin Friday night.
The opening period was pretty even overall with the Terriers owning the shots 8-6.
In the middle frame Portage took over in the shot department, going 14-6 on the Kings, but both teams had their chances.
The third period was pretty even when it came to puck control and chances but the Portage Terriers took the shot count 14-9.
In overtime things evened up as the Kings found a second gear. Shots were even at 7-7 with Grady Hobbs (1) using his hero card to get the game winner! Bryson Cecconi had the lone assist on the marker.
Levi Mitchell was superb between the pipes for the Kings. He turned aside 43 shots for the shut out. The Kings had a total of 28 on the Portage net.
As mentioned the win gets the Kings to a 2-1 series deficit to the Portage Terriers. It sets up a huge game Friday night at Credit Union Place as Dauphin looks to even up the series! Game time is 7:30pm, don't miss this one!
