Kings Win Home Opener In Front Of 2100+ Fans

DAUPHIN, MB – For the second straight game the Dauphin Kings outplayed the Swan Valley Stampeders and this time they were rewarded for it, beating the Stamps 3-2 at Credit Union Place Friday Night.

The Kirklan Lycar was driving around all night, and had all three goals for the Kings in the effort. Daniel Chartrand assisted on all three of the goals for Lycar, while Matty Greening and Dawson Bacon had the other two assists for Dauphin.

Brandon Holtby was strong between the pipes, turning away 15 of the 17 shots he faced. The Kings put 26 shots on Swan Valley’s Brett Evans.

Power Plays had Dauphin ending the night 0 for 2 while Swan Valley finished at 0 for 5. The Kings Power Play saw some scoring chances and good pressure, but couldn’t connect Friday.

Dauphin picked up the victory in front of 2,157 fans. The last time the Kings saw a number that big in fan support was the Western Canada Cup Championship Game in 2014 between Dauphin and Yorkton. The Kings thank you for the support and thank the Dauphin Clinic Pharmacy for making Friday night’s Home Opener possible.

The Kings get one day off before returning to action on Sunday when they entertain the Selkirk Steelers. It’ll be an early start time at Credit Union Place on Sunday, puck drop is slated for 6:00pm.
