Kings Win Fourth Straight

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings were good in spurts and it powered them to their fourth win in a row, a 4-1 decision over the Stampeders in Swan River.

The opening 20 minutes saw the Kings control things for the most part. At one point they were outshooting the Stampeders 10-2 but had nothing to show for it. Swan Valley would almost even up the shots in the second half of the frame, getting it to 13-10 Kings, but both teams had nothing to show for it.

In the second the Kings would come out flying. Right off the opening draw Gabriel Bugeaud (10) would score off a nice feed from Ethan Williment. Then shortly after Gavin Nemis would pick up his ninth of the year on the rush with a long wrist shot at the top of the face off circle. Before the period was out the Stampeders would cut the Kings lead in half, making it 2-1 through 40.

After some tense moments in the early stages of the third period Madden Murray (13) would give his team some breathing room at the midway point of the frame. That would be all they needed but Cayden Glover (31) would add an empty netter to seal it late in the period. It was a three point game for the 2004 born forward from Brandon.

Special Teams on the night had the Kings go 1 for 1 on the Power Play and 3 for 3 on the Penalty Kill.

Shots were 38-25 in favour of the Kings. Cole Sheffield picked up the win in net and was once again solid when called on to make some important saves.

The win moves the Kings to 26-9-1-0 on the season. They're six points up on Norman for first place in the West Division and have a game in hand.

Next up for the Kings is the club's annual Ukrainian Night on Saturday when they host the Virden Oil Capitals. Game time is 7:30pm but doors open and festivities begin at 6:00pm!
