Kings Win Fifth Straight, Beat Blues 4-2

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings are winners of five straight following another 4-2 victory, this time over the Blues Sunday night in Winnipeg.

It's the second straight game the Kings won 4-2 this weekend and second straight where they dug deep in the third period to earn points.

In the opening period the Kings would get out front when Joey Kubas (7) would make a nice off a Rylan Gage pass. The goal came just over four minutes in. Both teams had chances throughout the first period and then off a turnover in the Dauphin zone Winnipeg would tie things up with one minute to go in the first.

The second period saw the Kings come out strong and at the exact same time as they scored in the first (4:21) they'd score into the second. This time it was rookie D-man Brody Wytinck notching his second of the season on a shot from the point that seemed to bounce off a Winnipeg player in front and in. Despite two man advantages for the Blues the Kings controlled most of the second period. When he needed to, Justin Perreault stood tall for Dauphin in the frame.

In the third period the Blues would tie the game at two on a play that was clearly offside by four feet but the official called it onside and the game was even midway through. Fortunately for Dauphin it wouldn't matter as Havryil Simchuk (12) would score the game winner on a 2-on-1 later on and Daniel Helary (11) tallied a shorthanded empty netter in the final minutes to finish it off.

Shots were 44-27 for the Kings who were clearly the better team, especially in the third period. Goaltender Justin Perreault picked up the win in net.

Power Plays finished with the Kings going 0 for 2 while Winnipeg was 0 for 3.

The decision puts the Kings at 15-6-1-0 on the season. Their next matchup comes on Saturday when they kick off a seven game home stand. It's Country Night sponsored by Dauphin's Countryfest! It'll feature giveaways, special jerseys and more! Don't miss it! Game time Saturday is 7:00pm!
