Kings Win 8th Straight After Third Period Surge

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings are winners of eight straight following a thrilling third period comeback at Credit Union Place Sunday evening. A 3-2 overtime win over the Virden Oil Capitals!

It was a game that saw the Kings take a few minutes to wake up. The club fell behind 1-0 in the opening frame and would trail going into the second.

In the middle frame Dauphin came out flying and were rewarded for it early when Carter Sawchuk notched his 14th of the season just 25 seconds in. The Kings would go on to dominate the second period but didn't put any more on the scoreboard.

In the third period the Kings continued to control the play, but it was the Oil Capitals who took the lead at the midway point of the frame, jamming a loose puck in over the goal line with 9:34 to play.

Dauphin would then put their heads down and battle hard. Eventually Cole DeKoninck (13) would capitalize on a Kings man advantage with less than 40 seconds to go.

In overtime the Kings had the better chances and their Captain would score the game winner on a breakaway. Brendan Arnold's marker was his 5th of the season and assisted by DeKoninck.

The win is the Kings' eighth in a row and moves them to 16-10-3-2 on the season. For the night the club remains in 6th place but are now just two points out of 3rd in the standings.

Next up for Dauphin is an affair with the Wayway Wolverines on TV Tuesday. The contest is the final tilt in the Kings' six game home stand and it goes at 7:30pm!
