Kings welcome Freeze

The MGEU West Division standings are as tight as it gets and points are certainly coming at a premium.

On Friday night, the Kings are back on the ice as they welcome the Winnipeg Freeze to town and two points earned could be crucial as the team looks to make it back to the Turnbull Cup playoffs.

Entering the night in a tie for first with 53 points, Dauphin is just two ahead of Swan Valley, Virden, and OCN for that spot. The Kings are coming off a 2-1 loss against the Oil Capitals on Tuesday, 48 hours after they posted a solid 5-2 win against Niverville on the road.

Dauphin has beaten the Freeze twice this season and they have one more meeting against each other on March 13 in Winnipeg. Dauphin has been, for the most part, dominant on home ice this season with wins in 16 of their 23 games at Credit Union Place.

The Freeze; meanwhile, have never got it going this season as they have just three wins entering the contest. It’s the first of two games for Dauphin this weekend as they welcome the OCN to town on Saturday for a crucial West Division matchup.

Dauphin has gone just over 22% on the power play in 2023 as they continue to trend in the right direction in that category.
