Kings Visit Niverville For Afternoon Affair

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings will face their toughest test of the young Manitoba Junior Hockey League season so far when they face the undefeated Niverville Nighthawks this afternoon.

Dauphin comes in riding a five game winning streak and 5-1-0-0 on the campaign while the Nighthawks are a perfect 6-0-0-0.

Opening face off from Niverville's CRRC is at 3:00pm!

TONIGHT'S MATCHUP

KINGS (5-1-0-0)

Despite wins in five straight games the Kings remain two points back of the Virden Oil Capitals for first in the West Division. Dauphin, however, still has three games in hand on the Oil Capitals and three on the Waywayseecappo Wolverines who they are tied with for second place.

It's the final game of a three game road swing for the Kings. They'll return to Credit Union Place on Saturday to kick off a stretch that will see them play four of their next five at home.

Dauphin's Special Teams improved on Saturday with three goals on the man advantage and no goals against on the Penalty Kill. Now their Power Play is at 33.3% while their PK sits at 89.5%.

Rylan Gage, Nicolas Zaharias and Joey Kubas all currently lead the Kings with six points coming into today’s game.

NIGHTHAWKS (6-0-0-0)

The Niverville Nighthawks have been sitting and waiting for the Dauphin Kings since Friday when they hammered the Titans in Neepawa 7-1.

Tonight's game marks the start of a five game home stand that stretches through until October 24th. Niverville has outscored their opponents 12-6 on home ice so far this season. They've played three games. The Nighthawks will play 11 of their next 13 at home, a chance to really move up the standings in the East Division.

Special Teams are strong in Niverville. Right now the Nighthawks' Power Play is at 24.2% while their Penalty Kill is clicking at a 95.8% pace.
