TONIGHT'S MATCHUP
KINGS (20-11-1-0)
As mentioned this is the Kings' first game away from Credit Union Place since November 23rd. They are coming off a stretch that saw them play 10 straight contests on home ice dating from November 29th to January 6th.
The Kings will get used to playing on the road again quite quickly as six of their next eight games are away from Dauphin. They have just three more games this month inside Credit Union Place which might not be so bad as the club struggled on their 10 game home stand, going 5-5 in the stretch.
Special Teams will look to improve for Dauphin. Their Power Play is now down to 22% which is 8th in the league while their Penalty Kill gave up another goal Tuesday night. It sits 8th as well at 78.3%.
Nicholas Zaharias remains the Kings leading scorer with nine goals and 23 assists for 32 points. Kings forward Madden Murray has started 2026 off well, he has five points (2G, 3A) in the first two games of the calendar year.
TERRIERS (23-7-1-0)
Meanwhile the Portage Terriers continue to roll and are in the hunt for second place in the MJHL's East Division. They come into tonight's game with wins in 10 of their last 11 games. They recently dropped a 5-0 decision to Steinbach before hitting the Christmas break.
With that being said, this is Portage's first game back since the break. They have not played for two and a half weeks but will play nine games in month of January, with four at home and five on the road. They enter tonight four points behind second place Steinbach.
Special Teams before the Christmas break were a bit mixed for the Terriers. Coming into this evening their Power Play ranks 10th in the MJHL at 20.2% while their Penalty Kill is a bit better, 6th at 79.7%.
Rhett Platt (18G, 27A) leads Portage in points with 45.
