Kings Take Down Titans 4-1

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings scored twice in the opening period and didn't look back in a 4-1 win over the Neepawa Titans Friday night.

The first 20 minutes saw the Kings get out to another good start. This time they scored twice. First Ash Mitchelmore tallied his first MJHL goal off a scramble in front. Then Nicolas Zaharias (2) gave his team insurance with less than seven minutes to go in the first. The Kings would take their 2-0 advantage to the room after 20. So far this season Dauphin has outscored their opponent 7-0 in the opening period.

In the second Dauphin would add to their lead and score their first man advantage goal of the season when Daniel Helary (1) would find a loose puck and bury it into an open net. Neepawa would gain a late Power Play but Bryson Yaschyshyn stood tall turning aside multiple scoring chances. Right before the end of the period the Titans would score to make it 3-1 going to the last 20 minutes.

The third period saw the Kings lock in and close out the contest. Kale Pratte (2) scored his second goal in as many games to give Dauphin a 4-1 cushion and that's how it would end.

Bryson Yaschyshyn was very good between the pipes for the Kings. He made some important saves when needed and finished with 22 saves while his team had 34 shots.

Power Plays saw Dauphin end 1 for 2 and 1 for 1 on the Penalty Kill.

Dauphin is now 2-1-0-0 on the season and will try for their third straight victory on Saturday.

The Kings and Titans will meet again Saturday night at Credit Union Place for the Dauphin Fire Department's Fire Prevention Night! Game time is 7:00pm but come early to check out some fire trucks and more. Plus Dauphin Culture Days continues with the "Beauty of Hockey" inside the rink!
