DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings stuck with it and were eventually rewarded in the third period in a 3-1 win over the Swan Valley Stampeders Wednesday afternoon.
Things were pretty slow in the first 20 minutes on both sides. Swan Valley opened the scoring late in the period on a puck that bounced its way home. Shots were even at 12 and there were no man advantages.
Still with no penalties the second saw the Kings control things but came away with nothing. They out shot Swan 19-9 in the middle frame.
In the third Dauphin was in full control. First Ethan Stewart (2) tallied to even things up then Gabriel Bugeaud scored his sixth to give the Kings the lead. Rylan Gage (4) sealed it with a shorthanded marker in the dying seconds.
Cole Sheffield was very good in the win. He stopped 25 of 26 shots while his team had 49 on Swan Valley's goal.
Power Plays had both teams ending 0 for 1.
Next up for the 14-4-1-0 Kings is a break Thursday before resuming action on Friday at Credit Union Place. They'll take on the Neepawa Titans that night before facing off with the Swan Valley Stampeders on Saturday in Dauphin. Both start times are 7:30pm, see you there!
