DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings are winners of five straight following an 8-1 victory over the Monarchs Saturday night in Winnipeg.
The first period saw the Kings control things from the start. They out shot the Monarchs 13-4 in the frame and got goals from Havryil Simchuk (2), Daniel Helary (2) and Aiden Murray to take a 3-0 lead to the room after 20 minutes.
In the second the Kings continued their dominance. Both Havryil Simchuk & Daniel Helary added another goal and Nicolas Zaharias tallied to give Dauphin a 6-0 lead going to the final frame. Dauphin out shot Winnipeg 10-3 in the second.
The final period saw Havryil Simchuk pick up the hatrick, scoring in the opening minute of the frame. The Monarchs would get their first of the game shortly after. Josh Schmidt made it an 8-1 Kings lead later on in the third.
Power Plays saw the Kings capitalize multiple times. Havryil Simchuk had all three of Dauphin's on five attempts. The Kings went 4 for 4 on the Penalty Kill.
Justin Perreault was good in net for the Kings, picking up the victory and stopping 13 of 14 shots. Dauphin had 40 shots.
The Kings are now 5-1-0-0 on the season. They return to action tomorrow afternoon when they visit the Niverville Nighthawks for the first time this season. The game goes at 3:00pm!
