Kings Take Down Flyers

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings closed out their weekend home stand successfully, beating the Winkler Flyers 3-1 Sunday afternoon at Credit Union Place.

The Kings and Flyers skated to an uneventful opening period where both teams did not score.

Most of the scoring came in the middle frame. First it was Kings Captain Rylan Gage tallying his fifth of the season. Winkler would respond just under two minutes later to make it 1-1. However the Kings answered back when Brady Bell notched his first MJHL goal with a seeing eye wrist shot from the point late in the period.

Dauphin played a strong third period and didn't really give Winkler much to work with. Then in the dying minutes Daniel Helary (6) scored on a questionable goalie pull by the Flyers, giving Dauphin a 3-1 win.

Bryson Yaschyshyn picked up the win in goal for the Kings, stopping 23 of 24 shots.  Dauphin had 29.

Both team's Power Plays went goalless, Dauphin was 0 for 5 while Winkler was 0 for 4.

Dauphin is now 9-2-1-0 on the season. They get one day off before returning to play on Tuesday when they take on the Northern Manitoba Blizzard in The Pas. It the start of a stretch that will see the Kings play their next four on the road. They won't be back at Credit Union Place until November 9th when they host the Portage Terriers. Game time Tuesday against the Blizzard is 7:00pm.
