DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings are up 2-0 in their best-of-seven series with the Waywayseecappo Wolverines following a 3-1 Sunday night.
The opening 20 minutes was a quiet one for both teams. Waywayseecappo led the shots 9-7.
In the second period the two teams traded goals. The Wolverines scored first and the Matthew Thomas (1) had his shot deflect off a leg and in to make it 1-1 after 40.
For the second straight game Dauphin took over in the third period and for the second straight game it was Gavin Nemis (2) scoring the game winner. Nemis scored a disgusting backhand goal before Cayden Glover (1) sealed it for the Kings later in the frame.
Cole Sheffield was again solid in net for the Kings, stopping 27 of 28 shots. His team had 33.
Power Plays were again a non factor. Dauphin was 0 for 2, Wayway was 0 for 3.
Game three of the best-of-seven series goes Tuesday night at Credit Union Place. The series will return to Wayway for game four on Thursday. All start times for the series are 7:30pm!
