Kings Start Pre Season With A Win

DAUPHIN, MB - The Dauphin Kings got their pre season off on the right foot Monday, snagging a 4-2 win over the visiting Swan Valley Stampeders at Credit Union Place.

The Kings scored the game's first three goals. One in the opening frame from Owen Wareham (02) and two in the middle period from Ben Kelly (01) and Sloan Stanick (03). Stanick was one of Dauphin's top players Monday, he also added an assist in the second period.

The final Dauphin goal on the night came from Leeam Tivers (00). The BC product sealed the deal with an empty netter with just under a minute to play in the contest.

The Stampeders did make things close in the third, scoring twice in just over a minute, but goaltender Keaton Ziprick (03) played well and secured the victory for both himself and his partner Bryan Landsberger (00). Ziprick turned aside five of the seven shots he faced Monday while Landsberger stopped all nine he took on. The Kings fired 40 shots on the Swan Valley goal.

Dauphin will regroup for their next exhibition tilt on Tuesday when they head north to Swan River to battle the Stampeders. The game will likely feature a more veteran club on both sides as the teams move closer to the start of the regular season. Puck drop is pegged for 6:00pm.

The next Kings exhibition home game comes Saturday when they entertain the Virden Oil Capitals, opening face off that night is 7:30pm.
