TONIGHT'S MATCHUP
KINGS (16-9-1-0)
Even though they've dropped three straight games the Dauphin Kings do remain atop the MJHL's West Division. The Virden Oil Capitals have also struggled as of late and trail the Kings by three points. Virden now just has one game in hand on Dauphin.
The new issue the Kings and Oil Capitals are facing are the Neepawa Titans. Neepawa has won six of their last eight games and are now one point back of Virden and four behind the Kings. The Titans, however, have played one more game than Dauphin and two more than the Oil Capitals. The Kings don't see Neepawa again until January 4th.
Dauphin's Special Teams remain near the middle of the pack in the MJHL. Their Power Play is now rated 5th at 23.8% while their Penalty Kill is 6th at 80.9%.
Havryil Simchuk continues to lead the Kings in points with 29 (15G, 14A).
BLIZZARD (5-17-1-2)
After winning the Manitoba Junior Hockey League in May a lot has changed for the Northern Manitoba Blizzard. They have gone from the best in the league to second worst. The only team below them are the Winnipeg Monarchs.
Much like the Winnipeg Blues, who were in Dauphin on Saturday, the Blizzard need to start winning games if they hope to make the playoffs. However, as it looks right now now, the Blizzard are almost eliminated from the post season picture. To make it into the playoffs NorMan likely needs to win 25 of their of their 33 games.
Special Teams are mixed for the Blizzard. Their Penalty Kill is very solid at 83.8% which is 4th in the MJHL. Their Penalty Kill, however, is not very good. It's second to last in the league at 12.6%.
Jett Fogle enters the game as the leading scorer of the Blizzard. He has six goals and 12 assists for 18 points.
